Manufacturing - Process Cooling, North West - 200kW Chiller Hire
The Challenge
A breakdown in refrigeration plant at a high-volume ready-meal producer threatened to halt production, and let down supermarket customers with pending orders. The challenge was to provide a rapid temporary cooling solution to enable the facility to continue operating while the refrigeration contractor carried out repairs.
What Did We Do?
Refrigeration specialists from CRS attended the site to evaluate the cooling requirement and make recommendations for a temporary hire solution. The customer accepted the proposal and equipment was rapidly delivered to site. The team, led by northern sales manager David Edmonds, arrived at midday to carry out installation and commissioning, and by 5pm the equipment was up-and-running, powered by a diesel generator operating independently of site power.
How Did We Do It?
We supplied and installed a temporary refrigeration system utilising a high performance, high efficiency CRS 200 chiller linked to two CRS 150 air handling units. The chiller was positioned in the loading bay while air handling units were located in the temperature controlled areas, connected by all necessary pipework, glycol and power distribution.

Results
Delivery of equipment to site was rapid, hampered only slightly by breakdown of the vehicle delivering the generator. This was quickly resolved with our own haulier completing the transfer in good time.
The system was quickly up and running, and soon providing the critical cooling required to maintain temperatures in the food storage, production and preparation areas at the required level to ensure safe working and hygiene while repairs were carried out to fixed plant.
