Construction Heating Hire - 400kW Heater Hire - Glasgow

A £13.8m project to extend Tollcross International Swimming Centre for the 2014 Commonwealth Games left a big shortfall in pool heating capacity.
What Did We Do?
Carrier Rental Systems provided a temporary heating system to top up the existing system, to ensure pool conditions could be maintained at the required 16°C, while allowing work to continue at the site.
How Did We Do It?
Following a site visit, Brian Gray, regional sales manager for Scotland, designed a heating system based IDF units located outside the building (due to construction taking place inside), using temporary 600mm ducting. One duct provided warm air at ground level, while the other was positioned 3m off the ground – allowing work to continue. To minimise fuel usage, additional 600mm ducting was installed to recirculate the air.
Equipment – 2 x CRS 200 IDF Oil Fired Heaters, CRS Fuel Tank, Ducting & Cable
End User – Tollcross International Swimming Centre
Application – 400kW of Heating during construction
Additional – Temperature Requirement 16°C
The Results
After being successfully installed and commissioned, the diesel-powered heaters remained on site for six weeks, providing continuous service during this phase of construction.
Commenting on the project, CRS director Marc White said: “We were delighted to be able to help with such a prestigious and high profile project. It is just one of a series of major projects that have successfully been carried out by our expanding chiller, boiler and heating hire business in Scotland.”
