Carrier Rentals expands in Ireland to meet growing demand from pharmaceuticals, food and IT companies

Carrier Rentals expands in Ireland to meet growing demand from pharmaceuticals, food and IT companies

Carrier Rental Systems (UK) Limited (‘Carrier Rentals’), the leading temporary cooling and heating specialist, is expanding its operation in Ireland as part of a strategic growth plan.

The company recently appointed Brian Woods to head up a new branch in Lisburn, to spearhead developments in the north, and is now establishing a new base in Dublin to serve the south, giving total coverage.

Brian Woods says: “The Irish economy is picking up after a difficult period, and we see excellent opportunities to expand our temporary cooling and heating business. The branch in Lisburn has taken off since we launched earlier this year, and the new Dublin operation will open up the busy south for business.”

He added: “Ireland is something of a powerhouse for high tech, high value industries such as pharmaceuticals and IT. Most of the top 25 global pharmaceutical companies have a presence here, with manufacturing and research and development facilities located across the country.

“They have a significant requirement for temporary cooling, with expansion needs and unexpected breakdowns, which is obviously a key area of expertise for CRS.”

The IT sector is also a key growth industry in Ireland, with global giants such as Google, ebay, Amazon and Microsoft all with major presences. Their associated data centres and office facilities depend on high quality, continuous building services support.

Carrier Rental Systems in Ireland has invested in a brand new fleet of chillers, based on the latest high efficiency, low noise Carrier systems, as well as heating and air conditioning plant. Contracts secured to date include temporary cooling solutions for a pet food manufacturing plant, an egg processor, two major hospitals and breakdown responses for pharmaceutical companies.

The company’s latest project involves the supply of heating plant for drying out screed and surface finishes in a multi-sports and leisure venue during its construction phase. Carrier Rental Systems is supplying a 400kW diesel-powered integrated boiler with circulating pump, to help the contractor deliver the project on schedule.

In the current cool weather, it is hard for screed and finishes to fully dry, adding additional delays to the project. The boiler provides warm water at 20-40deg C to underfloor heating mats to gently speed up the process and ensure timescales are met.

Brian Woods says: “Some companies find it difficult to allocate capex for projects, so equipment hire provides a good solution. Carrier Rental Systems provides competitive long-term hire for periods up to five years, which can help establish a new production line without a big upfront investment in new equipment.

He added: “Some companies simply want to manage their cooling costs without the worry of maintenance bills, or ending up with redundant equipment if a line is closed. Others may simply want the breakdown support we can provide.”

Cooling equipment is available from 16 to 500kW, with up to 2MW of cooling possible with multiplexed units. Heating plant for producing low pressure hot water (LPHW) is available from 100 to 500kW and upwards, all powered by 35sec diesel. Air handling units, which deliver both heating and cooling, are available from 50 to 500kW.

The expansion in Ireland follows the recent announcements of new networks being rolled out across England and Scotland, and an expansion at the company’s headquarters in Thorpe.
