Carrier Rental Systems Announces Major Investment in Heating Fleet as Winter Approaches

Carrier Rental Systems, the UK’s leading temperature control hire specialist, has completed a major investment in high performance space heating, hot water and steam boiler plant to meet anticipated demand this winter. Carrier Rental Systems UK Ltd is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a leading global provider of healthy, safe and sustainable building and cold chain solutions.

The roll-out includes fully Ecodesign-compliant additions to the Carrier Rental Systems fleet of low temperature hot water (LTHW) heaters, in both oil and gas-fired options, and high performance medium temperature boilers and steam plant. The company is also pioneering a new approach to packaged heating equipment using an innovative and flexible skid-mounted system.

Additions to the fleet across its network, which spans the UK and Ireland, include new high-efficiency 100kW, 300kW and 600kW LTHW units, suitable for use in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. Based on high performance Riello condensing boilers, the packaged heating units can be combined with brazed plate heat exchangers on a bespoke skid-mounted package, enabling them to also produce hot water.

“The development means we can cater for a much wider range of customer requirements, spanning both heating and hot water generation, extending the usefulness of our fleet and ensuring we can effectively support customers in the event of a breakdown in both of these critical items of plant,” says Marc White, director and general manager of Carrier Rental Systems.

The company has invested in three additional high-capacity 3000kW plug-and-play heating systems, which provide total cover for planned and un-planned heating requirements in applications such as large office buildings, leisure centres, universities, factories and process heating. The highly energy efficient units come fully enclosed in a shipping container, with quick-release water and electrical connections for rapid deployment.

Carrier Rental Systems has also addressed anticipated demand for small, individual space heaters, investing in some 800 oil-filled convector-radiators, ideal for local space heating in offices and shops. Part of this new fleet has already been committed to a large public sector office heating hire contract in England.

Completing the expansion programme are new 150kW indirect diesel fired (IDF) heaters, for use in applications such as industrial space heating, warehouses, and concrete drying; and new steam boilers in 9-tonne, 5-tonne and 2-tonne options, ideal for use in hospitals, food manufacturing, and cardboard and paper production.

An important part of the initiative is implementation of remote monitoring as a default solution across the company’s hire fleet.

“The ability to remotely monitor plant gives us total visibility of equipment 24/7,” said Marc White. “This offers customers complete reassurance that systems are performing effectively. In addition to monitoring performance and alarms, it enables us to keep track of fuel levels and water-dosing status, to ensure continuity of service throughout the hire period.

“Remote monitoring is particularly valuable in critical applications, such as food production, server rooms, and process applications, where high value assets are at stake in the event of a problem. All our equipment is thoroughly tested prior to deployment, and remote telemetry gives customers an added level of assurance for complete peace of mind.”
